Wednesday, June 12th, 2013

Shamed designer and ex creative director at Dior is set to record an hour long television interview with US talk show host Charlie Rose. This will be the first time Galliano has spoken publicly since his anti-Senitic outburst at a fellow customer in a Parisian bar.
The interview is said to have been arranged by close friend of the designer, Oscar de la Renta, who has supported him throughout the ordeal. The hour long show should make for some interesting viewing, hold on to your hats.

Marant says of the collection ‘I aim to create something real, that women want to wear in their everyday lives, with a certain carelessness, which I think is very Parisian’.

“Once Upon A Time” by Karl Lagerfeld

Wednesday, May 29th, 2013

Karl Lagerfeld’s new black and white stylistic piece, portraying Keira Knightley as Gabrielle Chanel, opening her first designer shop in the French seaside resort town of Deauville in 1913. A lovely short film in which Chanel is helped along by her aunt Adrienne — played by actress Clotilde Hemse as she caters to wealthy clients. The film marks a legendary 100 years for the French luxury brand.

Norton and Sons

Thursday, May 23rd, 2013

As part of our continuing work for Royal Salute World Polo we were asked to create a polo jacket that could be gifted to very select VIP’s.

We strategically suggested that they collaborated with Patrick Grant of Norton & Sons who boast a long history of polo tailoring for the Royals. Egelnick and Webb Liaised Patrick and the Royal Salute team to oversee the design and production of the jackets. We also created bespoke labelling and crest elements for the jackets.

We art directed a shot showing the jackets being cut on Savile Row. The craftsmanship of the tailoring and the deep heritage of Saville Row echoed perfectly the fine craftmanship of Royal Salute Whisky.

The project was launched to press today.

Christian Marclay

Wednesday, May 22nd, 2013

Always exciting to get things through the post, particularly if its music; and if you are of a certain age, even nicer if its vinyl. Vinyl Factory are a client of ours, we’re currently helping them take One, The Thames (formally Arundel Great Court) to market. They also, not surprisingly given the name, own a vinyl factory and put out hand-crafted collectible limited edition premium vinyl as well as prints and publications.

Christian Marclay is best known for his music related artworks. I first came across him at White Cube Gallery which was showing Video Quartet (2002), a large, four-screen projection featuring hundreds of clips from old Hollywood films, with actors and musicians making sound or playing instruments. The Barbican had a major retrospective of his work a year or two later. He has collaborated with Sonic Youth’s Thurston Moore and Lee Ranaldo, which further explains my interest.

Stitching together sound and image to create hybrid pieces of audio and visual art that defies easy classification, Marclay has been described by The New Yorker as “the most exciting collagist since Robert Rauschenberg” (OK, more obvious interest).

A pioneer in the art of tampering with vinyl, Groove was recorded in New York City by running multiple layers of the same 7? single through a basic 8-track recorder and applying stickers directly on the groove so that the needle would skip and repeat. Limited to only 300 copies, the first hundred copies were hand-signed and numbered by Marclay himself, but sadly I missed out on that.
